How AshCar values a car
Behind every estimate on this page, our market agents do three things.
- They watch the marketOur agents keep reading the cars listed for sale across the Greater Toronto Area and take note of what each one is asking. A live picture of Ontario, not a quarterly book.
- They find your car's twinsYour year, make and model is matched to the closest comparable listings. If there are not enough of them, they say so and stop rather than average a number out of thin air.
- They learn what the kilometres costThey work out how mileage moves the price of that model, then take off what the condition you declared is worth, and price it for your plan: sell it or trade it in.
What moves the number most
- Mileage. The single biggest lever on a used car in Ontario, and the one this tool adjusts for directly.
- Condition and accident history. A clean history report separates two otherwise identical cars by thousands.
- Trim and options. Two cars of the same year and model can sit a full tier apart on price.
- Service records. A documented history is the cheapest thing a seller can bring and it moves offers.
- Season and timing. All-wheel drive prices differently in November than it does in May.

How do I find out what my car is worth in Toronto?

Is this a book value like Canadian Black Book?
No. A book value is a national average built from past transactions. This is priced against cars actually listed for sale in the Greater Toronto Area at the time you ask, so it reflects what the local market is doing this week rather than what it did last quarter.
Why is a trade-in offer lower than the market value?
A buyer who takes the car today carries the cost of reconditioning it, holding it on a lot, and the risk that it does not sell. That gap is why a dealer's offer sits below the price the same car is listed at. Selling privately usually earns more and takes longer.
Does mileage change the estimate?
Yes. If you enter a mileage, the range is adjusted against the mileage of the comparable Greater Toronto listings. The page tells you when that adjustment has been applied.
What does the car valuation cost me?
